Kit and Krit take the potions, and Kit takes the fossils, and then he gives everything else to Harvey, because Harvey helped him out!
We daly around a bit, Skuulfuchs makes a soup from the leader’s corpse, and then we teleport back to the Naythean Locks. Skullfuchs goes to speak with The Wisdom, who shows him some sweet velvet smoking jackets that Skullfuchs basically funded, and then Skullfuchs “trama dumps” our entire quest onto him, asking if he knows any demons that could help us. The Wisdom offers to reach out and fly one to us, but Skullfuchs will need to pay him back later.
Some more talking happens, and we decide to ascend back to the surface, back to the Material Plane! After the day’s journey, and once back on the Material, Harvey teleports us to Baron Black’s castle.
Wondermitch does some talking with the Order of Barred Doors, and after some info, begins to legend lore, which will take him 9 weeks. After his start, Harvey teleports us back to the locks, fails, and we wind up at a set of broken locks with very nasty water rushing through them. We camp for the night, and Harvey meets and speaks with a wise cyclops.
In the morning, Harvey teleports us to the Naythean Locks successfully. We find another ship down, and get back to our inn, and discover Harvey missed his meeting with the agent from the Selling Authority. Harvey, Kit, and Krit go visit the Selling Authority to reschedule the meeting (very expensive!), while Skullfuchs goes off to speak with The Wisdom (to get more smoking jackets!). The Wisdom also mentions he spoke with his tiefling friend, Blood Goose, who will be here in a few weeks.
The next day, Harvey meets with the agent from the Selling Authority. His report:
- The Realm of Lost Hope can be reached through the Abyss, but isn’t part of the Abyss itself. It may be a vestigial plane from before the creation of our realms, or the realm of some extra-dimensional creature not quite getting here. In any case, not related to a demon or anything like that.
- It is, essentially, impossible to escape from the Realm of Lost Hope.
- To get there, you need to perform basically a banishment/reverse-summoning, often with the aid of a demon, and it seems to harm the demon in the process.
- He provides a list of sources, some with annotations, for Harvey to reference.
- He also provides some leads for getting more information:
- The Scrivenbough (lol)
- Yog’Sohoth, of Dark Tapestry fame, and creatures of theirs will know how to open ways to The Realm of Lost Hope. Communication is, obviously, a challenge here.
- Two great libraries of the fey: one of Shika the Many (The House of Eternity), and another that is forgotten.
- A last thing: speaking with the quippolith about The Realm of Lost Hope might lead to answers, but that will be quite the challenge itself.
- He has no insight on The Red Door.
He wishes us well, bids us good luck, and the meeting is adjurned. Harvey heads to the Selling Authority and picks up some books. Skullfuchs says bye to The Wisdom, and the group returns to the Material Plane, and to Castle Black. We sync back up with Wondermitch, discuss our next steps, and decide to try getting to the First World using the portal controlled by the Bishop of Nemes. Harvey teleports us to the Cathedral, where we meet with Bishop Silas about using the gate. We rest for the evening, and set out the next day in a big canoe through the gate to the First World in the land of the River Kree.
Along the river, we meet with a few different fey, eventually getting to a guide in the form of a water mocassin, that can take us to the Forgotten Tower. After lots of talking, we conclude that Jane of Cyrpus (the water mocassin) will take us to the Old Woods, through the Realm of Spring, so we can continue from there to the Crumbling Tower. We agree to move safely, not quickly.
