The Dance That Drinks Party
The party decides to teleport to the Naythean Locks, both to try and get to the Abyss, and also, maybe, to find some more party members.
They find Kit and Krit, some ratfolk from the Noxious Nippers. They join up, and romp around the Locks looking for a “cleric” to heal up Skuulfuchs from his negative levels. First stop: the temple of Blackfingers. They talk to Harvey outside, and then refuse Skuulfuchs service. Next, we head to the temple of Kelizandri, where they’re drowning people, but strike out yet again. Finally, we do a bit of shopping before heading to find The Wisdom. There, Skuulfuchs manages to get some help from a dude altered to look like a lady.
We rest for the evening, and the next day we go about finding both a way to the Abyss, and also a way to buy 2500gp worth of salt for the temple of Kelizandri because Skuulfuchs basically agreed to get it for them in exchange for restoration. They find their way to the Selling Authority, where Harvey opens an account, likely against his will, and they negotiate for the salt, and also for the information of how to get to the Abyss.
The party returns to the temple of Kelizandri with the salt, “in good faith”, and the priest gets real excited to take his blood (also part of the original deal - two quarts of Skuulfuchs’ blood!), but everything get clarified, and so they ask instead about how to get to the Realm of Lost Hope. He doesn’t know anything, but shortly thereafter the party finds a Wayang sitting on a rotting dolphin, who is here to answer our inquiries. We start asking about how to get to the Abyss, and also how to get to the Realm of Lost Hope. The Wayang explains that the Abyss is, literally, endless, and the various places of the Abyss are not always specifically named, nor is that name the same among groups. It mentions, in this case, the Realm of Lost Hope might be Mephizim. Anyway, more stuff happens and Harvey signs something, and it’s expensive, but the Wayang’s gonna go get that information.
The next day, we return to the temple of Kelizandri, and we get to ask several yes or no questions related to our quest:
- Is the Realm of Lost Hope the same as Mephizim?
- If its not, follow-up is the Realm of Lost Hope a demiplane of the Abyss?
- Is it only accessible through the Abyss? We know this is yes already, so skip.
- Is the text from which Melibon learned of The Dance That Drinks still in
House Sussil Lands?
- Follow-ups can ask to specify libraries (Scrivenbow, Matriarch’s, Ink Bottle)
- Is The Dance That Drinks returned to the entity from which it is?
- Can The Dance That Drinks be acquired without communing with the entity?
Wondermitch and Skuulfuchs hop into a cage with the temple master, submerge into the Untersea, and ask some questions:
- Is the Realm of Lost Hope the same as Mephizim? No.
- Is the Realm of Lost Hope a demiplane of the Abyss? No.
- Is the text from which Melibon learned of The Dance That Drinks still in House Sussil Lands? “He knew of it before.”
- Is there a specific text that Melibon learned the rituals from in House Sussil Lands? “Almost certainly”
- Is that book in the Matriarch’s Library? Uncertain.
- Can The Dance That Drinks be acquired without communing with the entity? No.
- Does the ritual to acquire The Dance That Drinks require any specific items? “You already have it.”
- Is the Realm of Lost Hope associated with Abraxis? No.
After a short while, the cage rises out of the sea. Next time, surely, the party will get up to no good!
