The Dance That Drinks Party
The dinner party continues! We schmooze, and enjoy course 2: soup!
- Harvey casually drops Emperor Melibonn’s name, to see if it sparks conversation. Nothing much.
Course 3, meat-beast steak.
- Skuulfuchs tries to hit on a drow lady, to general failure.
- Wondermitch discusses souls, and tries to force-feed the table shrimp chips. He claims they are more like shrimp fries. “Mmm!” he exclaims, “They’re full of shrimpy goodness!” He brought two bags. He then drops Emperor Melibonn’s name
Course 4, shrimp fries (topical!) in a goo sauce.
- Wondermitch jumps right into the most important topic: is the lady he’s talking with gonna hook-up with Skuulfuchs. The lady says she’s celibate.
- The matriarch’s daughter asks Wondermitch and Fuirpleace when they would like access to the library. Suddenly, Wondermitch’s clam starts hailing him, and he responds. It’s Phenome-Phil, and he’s demanding the clam and slate back. Wondermitch says, “FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS.” The table is confused, but I get it. Anyway, it’s probably not a big deal. We agree to visit tomorrow.
Course 5, the final course, is jelly jellies. They’re delectable. The party starts winding down, so we leave before any further murdering happens. We return with our patron, enter into the main chamber of Claw House, and find a hezrou demon. COMBAT!!
- The fight is rather involved, but we scrape out a win!
Awfuleah and her daughter seem to consider this a regular affair, and don’t think much about it. We retire for the evening, and rest up.
The next morning, Snirf heads off to work with Skuulfuchs acting as bodyguard, and the rest of us head towards the Matriarch’s library. As we leave the house, a little gremlin, evidently from the Forgotten Court, has a message for Harvey from the steward. We continue to the library, meet with a male drow assistant called a Schala, and get a bunch of books to look into:
- Harvey looks into Emperor Melibonn’s history. He learns about his final days: he sank his entire empire into the ocean, and escaped to a desert empire. The cultists of Noctilla found him there, and assassinated him. The city is Qual.
- Wondermitch and Fuirpleace focus on his exploits with extradimensional powers. Discourse about how he enslaved elementals, with many references to other books. A significant focus on water elementals, using some sort of alternative magic system with words of power in aquan to compell the elementals. The elementals seem different, and verbose; possibly an allegory, or a different elemental.
We return to Claw House for the evening, rest-up, and then return the next day. We learn the Schala will be busy for a few days, and we won’t have access until he is free. We consider our next moves, especially for gaining access to the Scirvenbough: we’d have to either assassinate the princess’s sister; or kill a dragon. We reach out to Know, and get an audience with her in a few days.
We rest for the evening, and are very rudely awoken by the light of a thousand suns, as apparently Phenome-Phil attacks us in the night! COMBAT!!
- Snirf and Fuirpleace get immolated by the light. RIP.
- A Light Baby murders Bawg. RIP.
The rest of the party manages to destroy the weird light babies and Phenome-Phil. What will happen next? FIND OUT NEXT TIME!
