The Dance That Drinks Party

We decide to follow the original path the old man was leading us on, and eventually come to a widening cavern. We spend some turns buffing, and then everyone except Harvey rolls a 1 on initiative! What party cohesion! COMBAT!! - Harvey runs into the cavern, and finds a large, glowing, red, worm-like thing, which is obviously magical. He decides to punch it, gets bitten, then swallowed. The rest of the party delays until Edith gives us a blessing of fervor, and then Skuulfuchs and Stax swoop in and stab it. Then Wondermitch mythic fireballs it. - It erupts a smoldering cloud of ashes. Harvey punches his way out of the belly. Skuulfuchs gets chomped on, and starts biting it back. Wondermitch and Edith hang out beyond the cloud, and Stax eviscerates the worm, as he exits the cavern. - As we’re about to recooperate, a dragon’s head swoops in and snacks on Skuulfuchs! COMBAT IN COMBAT!!! - Skuulfuchs dies to a dragon. RIP. - Harvey gets beaten up enough to decide to retreat. Stax successfully sneaks into a position in the smoke, behind the corpse of the defeated worm, and then falls prey to the poison; he lies paralyzed in the shadows. - Harvey scoops up Skuulfuchs’ body, and falls back. Wondermitch dimension door’s the remaining group away, and Harvey teleports everyone back to town, except Stax. RIP. DEFEAT :(

Back in town, the remaining group figures out how to raise Skuulfuchs. Their options are the church of Abraxis, and the cult of Haagenti. They deliberate, and decide to try the church of Haagenti, associated with the flesh pits. They learn of an old crone that can do it, and after some negotiations, learn of the price: a life for a life - the old crone wants the next in line to lead her cult, Nufeelia. The party considers, briefly, and doesn’t commit.

The next day, the party gets a letter summoning the party to the Matriarch. They desperately pull together some gifts (a fluted rod that Wondermitch got from Phenome-Phil’s body; some decorative plates), dress rather poorly, and arrive to learn that the Matriarch has “divined” our true intentions: to revive Emperor Melibon. She further believes that Stax is an heir to Melibon. She basically commits her resources to the party to help them in this endeavor, and after some dialog, raises Skuulfuchs from the dead and gifts them a Bowl of Conjuring Water Elementals.
